Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our dog walking services
How much do you charge for a 30 minute dog walk?
Our 30-minute dog walks are $30 per walk. This includes individual
attention for your dog, GPS tracking, and a photo report card after
each walk. Weekend walks have an additional $5 fee, and major holidays
include a 20% surcharge. Same-day bookings also have a $5 additional
fee.
How long should a dog walk be?
The ideal walk length depends on your dog's age, breed, and health
status. Most adult dogs benefit from 30-60 minutes of walking per day.
Puppies need shorter walks (15-30 minutes) to protect their developing
joints. Long walks over 1 hour should not be undertaken by dogs under
12 months of age for smaller breeds, or up to 18 months for large
breeds. Senior dogs may need gentler, shorter walks. We customize each
walk based on your dog's individual needs.
What services do dog walkers usually provide?
Our dog walking service includes: individual walks (one dog at a
time), GPS tracking so you can see exactly where your dog walked,
photo report cards after each walk with updates, basic training
reinforcement, accommodation of specific routes or routines,
all-weather service, and personalized care tailored to your dog's
needs. We can also walk multiple dogs from the same household together
or separately.
Do dogs get sad when not walked?
Yes, dogs can become sad, anxious, and depressed without regular
walks. Walking provides essential mental stimulation, physical
exercise, and environmental enrichment. Dogs who don't get regular
walks often develop behavioral issues like excessive barking,
destructive chewing, and hyperactivity. Regular walks release
endorphins, reduce stress, and contribute significantly to your dog's
emotional well-being.
Are dogs happier after a walk?
Absolutely! Dogs are noticeably happier after walks. Exercise releases
endorphins (feel-good hormones) that improve mood and reduce stress.
After a good walk, you'll often notice your dog is more relaxed,
content, and well-behaved at home. Regular walking also improves sleep
quality, reduces anxiety, and provides the mental stimulation dogs
crave. A well-exercised dog is a happy, healthy dog.
How long does 1 hour feel to a dog?
While we can't know exactly how dogs perceive time, research suggests
they experience time differently than humans. Dogs live very much in
the present moment. An hour to a dog may feel longer than it does to
us, especially when they're waiting for something exciting like a
walk. This is why establishing a consistent routine with regular walks
is so important—it helps dogs anticipate and feel secure about their
daily schedule.
Do you walk dogs in all weather conditions?
Yes! We walk rain or shine because your dog's routine and exercise
needs don't stop for weather. Please leave out any necessary coats,
booties, or towels near the door so we can keep your pet comfortable
and dry. We take extra care in inclement weather to ensure your dog
stays safe and warm.
Why do you only walk one dog at a time?
We walk one dog at a time (from different households) to ensure your
pet receives complete, undivided attention. This approach maximizes
safety, allows us to focus on your dog's specific needs and training,
and ensures they get a personalized experience. If you have multiple
dogs in your household, they can absolutely be walked together—we
customize the service to what works best for your family.
What time of day is best for dog walks?
We offer walks throughout the day, and the best time depends on your
dog's needs and your schedule. Early morning walks (8 AM - 10 AM) are
popular for high energy dogs to get their day started with activity.
Midday walks (11 AM - 1 PM) help prevent destructive behavior and
going potty in the house while you are away. Evening walks (4PM-6 PM)
are great for wind-down and socialization. High energy dogs often
benefit from morning + evening walks. Contact us to discuss the best
schedule for your pup.
